Monday Morning Links 7/29

A friend came over this morning and noticed, “Gee, you have a million tabs open.” Which made me think, “I should do a post on every tab I have open on Monday morning, every monday, just to show how wonderfully unproductive I can be.” 1. http://qmixalot.com/certified-spirits-specialist-css-exam-faq I was thinking about making a run at the CSS exam,Continue reading “Monday Morning Links 7/29”

Farmstead at Long Meadow Ranch

Some dear friends were in the process of coming back to L.A after spending some time Napa Valley and we decided to meet for lunch, as I was working up in Marin Co. We picked Farmstead, the restaurant for Long Meadow Ranch. Long Meadow has three locations (including a 90-acre Rutherford Estate, and a 650-acreContinue reading “Farmstead at Long Meadow Ranch”

626 Night Market

I was really excited to try 626 Night Market. Having heard that it was plagued by issues in it’s first several incarnations – I figured they would’ve been largely mitigated by now. I was wrong. Though not clean food, by any means (aged Taiwanese microwaves and dirty grills everywhere) I expected as much going intoContinue reading “626 Night Market”

The Top 5 Television Programmes of All Time – #1

It has come to my attention, mainly through awkward references at tables to Star Trek (“this wine is from Slovenia, and has a color similar to a Klingon Bloodwine”, or “I’m a Vulcan – alcohol has no effect on me”) that the general public is not informed about what the greatest television shows of allContinue reading “The Top 5 Television Programmes of All Time – #1”

Swan Oyster Depot

There is a certain lore that surrounds this San Francisco establishment. With an 18 seat dining room the Sancimino brothers, whose family has run the place since 1946 (It opened in 1912 ) serve “Fresh” Oysters, Shrimp, Smoked salmon, seafood cocktails and salads. I was excited, and eager to wait in the nearly 2 hour line.  IContinue reading “Swan Oyster Depot”

Gamja Gol: Traditional Korean Restaurant

One thing I notice about Korean restaurants, is that when a rather large bald brown man walks in the door, no one seems to particularly notice or raise an eyebrow. My theory is because African American’s and Koreans share something in common, Soul Food. Gamja Gol was sparse, though equipped with a state of theContinue reading “Gamja Gol: Traditional Korean Restaurant”

Monday Morning Tabs

A friend came over this morning and noticed, “Gee, you have a million tabs open.” Which made me think, “I should do a post on every tab I have open on Monday morning, every monday, just to show how wonderfully unproductive I can be.” I use Readability quite extensively, I will pull open all theseContinue reading “Monday Morning Tabs”

Recommended: David’s Tea

Being a frequent imbiber of tea (lapsang souchong, almost daily) and reader of several tea blogs I was eager to try this Canadian import in Burlingame. A colorful and fun tea shop called David’s Tea. Article discussing more about the company in WSJ. The place is extremely colorful, almost yogurt shop like. Extremely clean and bright. IContinue reading “Recommended: David’s Tea”

Outerlands SF

I haven’t dined before in this part of the city and I was excited to find that there wasn’t any parking. I took a nice little stroll down the side a really nice park, and there I arrived. Outerlands. I tried to make a reservation on Open Table to no avail because of the sameContinue reading “Outerlands SF”
